OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT Establishment of Departmental and Regional Coordinations of the National Network of Youth Parliamentarians

The Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) informs former Youth Parliamentarians and youth stakeholders that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC) has issued Circular Letter No. 002/2026 defining the procedures for the establishment of Departmental and Regional Coordinations of the National Network of Youth Parliamentarians.

This initiative aims to strengthen the organization, visibility, and impact of Youth Parliament alumni across Cameroon, in line with national policies promoting youth participation in governance, civic engagement, and sustainable development.

Purpose of the Initiative

The creation of these coordinations seeks to:

• Bring together Youth Parliamentarians from the last eight mandates

• Structure their engagement at departmental and regional levels

• Enhance coordination of youth-led civic actions nationwide

Eligibility

Eligible participants are former Youth Deputies and Youth Senators from the previous eight mandates of the Youth Parliament.

Positions to be Filled

At the Departmental Level:

• Departmental Coordinator

• Assistant Departmental Coordinator

• Secretary General

• Treasurer

• Auditor

At the Regional Level:

• Regional Coordinator

• Assistant Regional Coordinator

• Secretary General

• Treasurer

• Auditor

• Two Advisers 

Selection Process

Members of the coordinations will be elected by their peers through a single-round vote at both departmental and regional levels. Gender inclusion, disability inclusion, and territorial balance will be taken into account. Each Youth Parliamentarian may hold only one position.

The process will be supervised jointly by MINJEC local authorities and representatives of the Cameroon National Youth Council at both departmental and regional levels. 

Election Dates

• Departmental Coordinations: Friday, 6 February 2026

• Regional Coordinations: Monday, 9 February 2026

Call to Action

The CNYC calls on all eligible former Youth Parliamentarians to mobilize and actively participate in this important process, which represents a major step toward strengthening youth leadership structures and institutionalizing youth participation in national development.

For further guidance, participants are encouraged to liaise with their respective Divisional and Regional Delegations of Youth Affairs and Civic Education.
