In 2026, Cameroon marks a historic milestone: sixty years of commitment, energy, and resilience of its youth, who remain a vital pillar of national development and a driving force for the future. This commemoration represents not only a symbolic anniversary but also a moment for collective reflection on the central role of young people in building the nation.
Held under the official theme “Youth at the Heart of Great Expectations for a United, Stable, and Prosperous Cameroon,” the celebration highlights the decisive contribution of young people to peacebuilding, social cohesion, and the socio-economic advancement of the country.
This 60th anniversary aligns with the vision of the Head of State, Paul Biya, who places youth at the center of efforts to build a united, stable, and prosperous Cameroon. Through this vision, young people are called upon to play an active role in upholding national values, strengthening unity, and contributing meaningfully to development.
From 1 to 11 February 2026, young Cameroonians at home and in the diaspora are encouraged to mobilize in large numbers to participate in the commemorative activities organized for this occasion. These days will serve as important moments for dialogue, reflection, civic expression, and renewed commitment to the future of the nation.
Through this celebration, the Cameroon National Youth Council (CNYC) calls on all young people to embrace the anniversary theme and transform it into concrete actions that promote local development, solidarity, innovation, and social cohesion.
Youth Day 2026 therefore stands as a national moment of mobilization, hope, and responsibility, reaffirming that Cameroonian youth remain a powerful force in building a prosperous and sustainable future.
